First Trimester Beginnings
Congratulations on your pregnancy new mama! The first trimester is a beautiful and exciting journey into the wonderful world of motherhood.
Whether this is your first pregnancy or you're walking this season again (right here with you), the beginning weeks can feel both overwhelming and filled with change.
In this post, we'll focus on well-being, gentle preparation, mindset, motherhood, and creating a peaceful space. Nothing rushed. Nothing excessive. Just what supports you and your growing baby.
You're exactly where you need to be.
This post is all about the first trimester.

The First Trimester: What is Happening Right Now
The first trimester lasts between week 1 through week 12 or 13.
In the beginning weeks you may experience many of these first trimester symptoms, only a few or none at all. While every pregnancy is different, this list is to offer reassurance, not comparison.
Here are a few symptoms you may feel:
- Fatigue or low energy
- Mood swings
- Nausea (with or without vomiting)
- Mild cramps
- Sensitive sense of smell
- Headaches or lightheadedness
- Breast tenderness or soreness
- Bloating or constipation
- Increased need to urinate
- Changes of appetite
- Difficulty sleeping or vivid dreams
If you've experienced a handful of these first trimester symptoms, you may find yourself on the journey to motherhood. The next step is taking an at-home pregnancy test.
If this is your first pregnancy and want to confirm the news, I used Clearblue Early digital pregnancy test for my first and now second pregnancy and got the news confirmed at 8 weeks (first pregnancy) and 6 weeks (second pregnancy).

Well-Being in the First Trimester
The first trimester is a season of care, rest and simple choices to help you feel supported during the new journey of motherhood.
Well-being in early pregnancy is rooted in listening, honoring your energy, nourishing your body, and creating peace with yourself to rest.
Rest & Energy
Fatigue or low energy is one of the most common first trimester symptoms. As you body is using your energy in new ways, you may feel more tired than usual (& you are not alone!).
Here are a few ways to listen to your body and honor your energy:
- Mind: Prioritize rest without guilt (you are doing so much)
- Body: Slowing your pace to honor your body already working hard
- Mom Tip: Add a short nap and/or earlier bedtime during this season
Hydration
Staying hydrated during pregnancy is essential because water delivers nutrients to your baby, aids digestion (prevents constipation), regulates your body temperature, helps prevents UTIs, and supports overall health to your growing pregnancy. Water is essential.
Here are a few ways to stay hydrated:
- Mind: Listen to your body
- Body: Sip water constantly throughout the day
- Mom Tip: Prioritize drinking water with every meal and drink daily.
Pro Mom Tip: Adding electrolytes, like those in Celtic Salt or Ancient Sea Salt to a glass of water, helps the body with hydration and replenishing minerals lost in sweat and supporting fluid balance.
Nourishment
Early pregnancy nutrition doesn't need to be perfect— it needs to be gentle and sustainable. Things to keep in mind:
- Mind: Eat what is manageable & what your body can tolerate.
- Body: Small, frequent meals are often easier.
- Mom Tip: Focus on a balance diet rather than restrictions.
Pro Mom Tip: Speak with your health provider to create a specific nutrition plan that works for your body during this season of pregnancy.
Symptom Support
Early pregnancy symptoms during the first trimester, can feel overwhelming but there are a few ways to support common symptoms like nausea, that can help you move through the day with ease.
Here are a few ways to manage:
- Find a nausea relief strategy that is sustainable and manageable.
- Allow gentle moveable when possible.
- Wear comfortable clothing and body support.

Emotional Well-Being
During the first trimester, hormonal shifts can affect your mood, patience, and emotional sensitivity. Being patient with your body and the new changes can help ease your mind from judgment or guilt you may feel during this season.
Here are a few ways to manage:
- Mind: Allow space for emotions without judgement or guilt.
- Body: Take 5 min of stretching or quiet time, when needed.
- Mom Tip: Rest and patience during this season is just as important as nutrition.
Well-Being in the First Trimester
The first trimester is the beginning to new changes but it wasn't meant to be rushed or perfect. It's a season of listening to your body, adjusting to new feelings, and allowing your body to do what is was designed to do.
Somedays may require more rest, that's okay.
Somedays require to be steady, that's okay.
There is no right place, that's okay too.
As you move through the early weeks, let this be a reminder that caring for yourself is already caring for the baby. Small choices, gentle support, and rest are enough for now.
This is just a start and you're allowed to begin softly.
