1. What to Wear: Disney on Ice Outfits for Moms & Littles
For Mamas: When your kids look up at you and sees you wearing Mickey, Minnie or fav Disney princess, it becomes a shared experience. It's about connection.
You don't have to wear a full costume (also a Disney on Ice official rule ) but it's the subtle and thoughtful touches that make their experience more magical.
A quiet little moment of "Mommy loves what I love" and that's wear the magic really lives
Disney on Ice Outfits for Mama

- Oversized graphic tee + sneakers + cross body bag (check bag policy)

Disney on Ice Outfits for Littles

Prince Fav: This classic prince costume for boys is the perfect way to make them feel the same magic as the Disney princesses. This prince charming costume is another great option.

2. What to Bring: The Realistic Mom Checklist
You don't need everything—just the right things. Packing the essentials can help prevent overstimulation, toddler meltdowns and help save $$$ during the show. Here are few items for keeping the day magical:
Must-Haves:
- Snacks (toddler-approved & mess free)
- Spill-proof water cup
- Wipes + Sanitizer
- Small comfort item (stuffed plush or lovey)
- Light jacker or blanket (venue can be cold)
Optional but Helpful:
- Headphones (for noise sensitivity)
- Mini activities for intermission or waiting time (show to begin)
Pro-Mom Tip: Check BOTH Official Disney on Ice FAQs/Rules & hosting location (venue) to confirm bag policy guidelines before event.
Our venue experience had a size-specific bag policy guideline but diaper bags were allowed (1) per child. Planning a day in advance can allow you time to find a venue-specific option and save you a trip from walking back to your car (from the security check point).

Buying ahead avoids (TBH) overpriced impulse purchases and avoid mid-show meltdowns. There is a variety of Disney-themed items to buy before you head to the show. Here are 3 Disney on Ice Souvenirs (You'll also see at the show):

4. On Your Way to Disney on Ice (Make the Journey apart of the Magic)
Whether you driving an hour or 10 min to the venue, make the journey apart of the magic! Here are a few ways to begin the experience on the road:
- Turn on a Disney Playlist on Spotify
- Pack themed snacks
- Talk about favorite characters
- Don't forget to keep a surprise element (don't over explain)

5. How to Prepare Your Toddler
Disney on Ice for a toddler is quite magical and memorable. By planning ahead for the show, there are a few things to keep in mind in order to prevent over stimulation and meltdowns. Here are a few ways to plan ahead to avoid toddler tantrums or meltdowns:
Timing Matters (This is EVERYTHING):
Choose a time that aligns with their schedule.
Morning Toddler → Early Showtime (Ex. 11 am)
Napper → Plan around rest time
For the Napper: Prioritize rest before show = better mood
Set Expectations Simply: Say "We're going to see Mickey dance on ice"
Avoid over-explaining → toddlers don't need all the details
Manage Stimulation
- Arrive early to avoid rushing (rushing mama = anxious toddler)
-
Take breaks if needed (2 hour showtime can be overwhelming)
- Sit near an aisle for easy exits (potty training toddler must)
Comfort is Key
- Bring a familiar friend
- Stay calm or upbeat—your energy sets the tone.
Pro-Mom Tip: The experience doesn't have to be perfect to be magical.
Our experience with a 3 year old toddler wasn't perfect but it was memorable and magical. The music and energy from kids/families was overwhelming but the comfort of his dad and energy (getting excited) was key to breaking the cycle.
During intermission, we walked the venue, went to the bathroom and grabbed a snow cone (Stitch cup) and he was happy again. Taking a short break during intermission is a great way to keep them engaged and avoiding meltdowns.

6. Is Disney on Ice Worth It?
From the surprise moment of "We're going to Disney on Ice!" to watching my son's eyes light up when his favorite character came out. Yes—it was worth it.
One day they'll outgrow the magic—but today, you get to live in it with them.
In every post, I like to remind moms, this may be their childhood but this is also our motherhood. What a great way to experience life with them.
