Our farm animal sensory bin setup required very little preparation and was a total hit with our son. If you’re a toddler-mama like me, you are doing all the research and preparing your little learner for new milestones.

I am giving you my complete list of supplies, prep, and activities for this farm animal sensory bin, so you too can have an engaged toddler.

How To Make a Farm Animal Sensory Bin

1. Fill sensory bin with filler

One thing I love about sensory bin activities is allowing your little one to help! They’ll have just as much fun setting up too.

2. Place farm Animals and shovel accessories in Sensory Bin

Once you have set-up your farm animals, it's time to play!  This is one of my favorite things about sensory bins is it allows my son to explore and learn through hands-on play that engages his senses.

Story Time

I'll use any opportunity to combine a sensory bin with a nice picture book! Peekaboo: Farm is a great pair for this sensory bin. In this activity, I like to read, find the animal figures in the sensory bin, then we make the sounds out together. This allows them to identify animals, their names and sounds.

Shape Awareness

In this stage (toddlerhood), I’m sure your little one is already learning shape awareness with puzzles or fun toys. This Farm Animal Playset has 8 animal figures that you can practice shape awareness. I like to set my barn in the middle of the sensory bin, place the animals, then we start pushing them into place.

Threading Game

I was surprised how quickly my 20 month old toddler picked this up. It is one of the reasons I LOVE this kind of activity. Your child's fine motor skills and eye-hand coordination will improve with this activity.
