A Valentine Sensory Bin You Will *DIG*
During the holidays, making sensory bins is a fantastic method to encourage learning through play. This Valentine sensory bin is made from items you may already have in your home or a quick item to grab while out shopping!
This sensory bin is a lovely way to begin the month of February, whether you are preparing dinner and need to divert your child's attention OR you want to do something enjoyable with them on Valentine's Day.
Let's dig in!
This post is all about our Valentine's sensory bin for kids.

What's in our sensory bin?
In this Valentine sensory bin, we used our colored-rice as our base filling but you can use anything from beans, pasta, cotton balls, or anything else you already have at home.

Imagination sparks creativity
To encourage my son's imagination and creativity, I always accompany our sensory activities with a festive book. We read Construction Site: You're Just Right and with his current obsession with Blippi and the Excavator song, he was engaged from the start.

Construction Toys
This past Christmas, our son was gifted a construction toy set from his grandparents. Let's just say my planters didn't look their best in January, but it was a major hit. Making a secure sensory bin was a terrific way to let him enjoy something he likes and support play-based learning.

Tools & Spoons
We added these fun spoons from our previous Farm Animal Sensory Bin to fill and scoop with, along with a heart-shaped box we found at the Dollar Store. It was a great item we included for our construction idea. Then we added a few items to dig up, like a few wooden hearts and red gems.

For our young children who are not yet enrolled in school, Valentine's Day may be an underappreciated occasion. But whether your child is a toddler or a preschooler, this Valentine sensory bin is a terrific way to enjoy February and encourage learning through play.
Hope you enjoy your February and Valentine's Day!
